Surprises in Mystery Pucks, Surprises in Elevators

Since my internship started, I haven't seen any of my classmates from GBC so when Sabrina asked if I could help her sell autographed Mystery Pucks during the Leafs game at the Air Canada Centre, I was happy to help.

Before we got to work, we met up for lunch at Fran's. I'm not a big breakfast fan but I couldn't resist ordering their "favourite prize winning pancakes since 1940". If it's good enough for the Jays, then it's good enough for me. I got the banana chocolate pancakes and they were honestly the best pancakes I've ever eaten. It's a shame I could only finish 2 of the 4.

For the next 3 hours, I wrapped and sealed roughly 200 autographed hockey pucks in the MLSE office. If there's anything I learned today, it's that I don't mind doing menial work. What can I say? Efficient is my middle name. Sitting on the floor for 3 hours can get quite painful though. Also, some of the Maple Leafs have terrible autographs. I'm looking at you, Dion Phaneuf. Oh, and Darryl Sittler walked by and said hello, no biggie.

The Mystery Pucks were on sale for $20 and one of the pucks had a winning sticker for a game-used Luke Schenn hockey stick (I touched his stick! ;) haha). I love seeing fathers buy pucks for their kids and it's adorable how excited the kids are to find out whose puck they got. By the end of the night, we made over $2800, all of which goes to Team Up Foundation. I'd say it was a pretty successful night.

And then the night got better. After saying goodbye to Sabrina, I headed to the elevators to leave the office. The elevator doors opened, it was super packed, and standing right at the front was MIKE KOMISAREK and JOEY CRABB! I have to say, I did a pretty damn good job at keeping my cool but boy, did they look gooood in suits. Acting nonchalant, I asked if there was room for me to squish in or I could wait for the next one. Komisarek scooted in so I hopped on and  for the next minute, I was a very happy girl. Who would've thought I'd ever share an elevator with two Toronto Maple Leafs?! Maybe it's a good thing I'm not working at MLSE; I'd be overly happy every day.

Also, I would like to thank my phone for working all day. Seriously, thank you for not being your usual shitty self.

  1. That's awesome. Making kids happy, plus making money for charity. Win-win! And twenty bucks is not a bad deal at all. Did you say anything to those two people in the elevator? (I don't actually know who they are lol)

    1. No, they didn't look very happy and the elevator was packed full. No one was making conversation; everyone was just uncomfortably squished haha.
